The Bentall Centre is Kingston's main shopping mall. It is imaginatively designed, light and airy, a place of water and glass and greenery and clean, bold lines, a place that is busy and vibrant but not intimidating or claustrophobic.

The Bentall centre takes its name from the principal department store, Bentalls, a shop that began life as a small local drapery store in 1867 and is now a significant retail business with six branches and a turnover in excess of £100 million per annum. The mall itself is built on four levels around a massive, glass-roofed atrium and includes a food court. It was built in 1992 but I can find no information about its designers or engineers - whoever they are, they can feel very proud of their creation.
